 ▪ original photo enlarged in color to 8 x10 roughly

▪ freezer paper

▪ pins, paper scissors, fabric scissors

▪ cutting matt and small rotary cutter

▪ double sided Scotch tape

▪ lead pencil, Sharpie, Ballpoint pen in a contrasting color, i.e. red or purple anything but black

▪ Saral Transfer paper or Transdoodle in

white for dark fabrics. Can be ordered from https://www.mistyfuse.com/

This is a non-waxy marking paper that doesn’t ruin

your fabric and is easy to remove.

▪ An iron and ironing surface- not your best

iron, fusing can get messy sometimes.

▪ Teflon press sheet for fusing, or parchment paper will work too, to protect your iron, and surface.

▪ About 2 yards of Wonder Under or Misty Fuse, whichever you like better, I prefer Misty Fuse, it has a lighter hand when

Brushes can be found at any art supply store or online. Get short angled brushes. A small sea sponge is a good idea also.

The Art Quilter's Coach Roxane Lessa

Roxane was a professional ballet dancer in her youth. Now she enjoys creating movement with color, line, and shapes, using textiles as her muse. She has exhibited her work in many group and solo shows abroad and in the US. Known as The Art Quilter's Coach, Roxane specializes in coaching quilters to master design so they can make their own amazing art quilts. Her 3-D Textile Painting technique (copyright) was featured in Quilting Arts Mag. Dec/Jan 2014, and Quilting Arts TV, Series 1500. Roxane has been a BERNINA ambassador, and recently won a First Place Ribbon for her pictorial art quilt, Wisteria Wonder at the prestigious Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival. She has also taught And lectured for 2 years at the Houston International Quilt Festival. Oh, and she still loves to dance!

First time making an art quilt....

This summer I received at email from CQA informing me that they were compiling a selection of juried entries into a “Best of Quilting in Canada”collection and they wanted to include my piece. The quilts would be exhibited in the New England Quilt Museum (NEQM) in Lowell, Massachusetts, from January 17 to May 9, 2023. Needless to say, I was shocked and thrilled.
